Best Practice?

“Sooner or later, “turning out” kids who can turn out the right answers the way you turn out screws, or hubcaps, comes to seem like normal practice. Worse, it comes to seem like “best practice.”

I think our schools are preparing us for what jobs are like, not for what we will do in jobs. They have prepared us for interviews, but not so much what we need to do in a job. They are teaching us how to save our money, but not how to simply write a check. Our schools are teaching us leadership and responsibility. I think our school should be more demanding in showing us how to do simple things we will need in life, instead of getting into deep detail right away.
